YEARS
The Royal Academy of Science International Trust
at the heart of Science, Education, Economy, Arts & Sustainable Development
U.N. Fellowship Program
The Fellowship Program is designed to complement sustainable development goals-oriented programs with practical experience in various
aspects of multilateral technical cooperation, but also complements other international studies, including law.

The Fellowship assignments vary greatly in terms of content. Interns may have a country-specific, regional, sectoral, or thematic focus.
However, interns are normally involved in some aspect of the design, implementation and evaluation of RASIT–supported programs and
projects. Every attempt is made to match the interests of the intern with the needs of the organization.

The Program is taking place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.  Interns will be given a grounds pass for the duration of your stay
that will enable you to enter UN buildings in New York.

The Fellowship assignments vary in length, between one and three months, according to the availability and academic/work requirements of
the intern, as well as the needs of RASIT. Assignments at the RASIT Operations at the United Nations are available on a full-time basis
throughout the year.

Program Expectations

In addition to the essential pre-reading (which will be provided to all enrolled interns in advance), the program involves active participation in
meetings at the United Nations; adequate preparation is expected and any interns who feel unprepared should work with the RASIT Operations
Staff at the UN to better understand the concepts.

Areas Covered

The Program will be tailored to the needs of specific groups, and will include a selection of the topics below:

  • Understanding the main organs of the United Nations
  • Millennium Development Goals
  • 2030 Development Agenda
  • Sustainable Development Goals
  • United Nations Entities
  • Peacekeeping – helping create a safer a more secure world
  • Harnessing the full power of partnerships across the range of UN activities
  • Working for the United Nations

Further Career Opportunities

The purpose of Fellowship Program is not to lead to further employment with RASIT but, as mentioned, to complement an intern's studies and
work experience. However, a number of interns, having completed their studies and met the necessary requirements, have gone on to further
assignments with RASIT or elsewhere in the United Nations system.
