2016-20 Work plans

RASIT Work plan and Budget was approved by the Board of Trustees following the recommendation of the Trust’s Council.

The work plan has been developed in the context of RASIT’s Vision and Mission. It also builds on the developments that have taken
place in national, regional and global efforts for sustainable development issues, as well as lessons learned from the
implementation of previous work plans.

The work plan structure was developed to form the basis of a results framework that will underpin and guide RASIT's work between
2016 and 2020.

Building on RASIT's achievements, the 2016-2020 work plan is structured around five outcomes, and one special project, which will
enable RASIT to make significant contribution to achieving its Vision and Mission, as set out below:

Outcome 1: Intensify progress towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and RASIT's
Development Goals.

Outcome 2: Parity in Science.

Outcome 3: Renewable Energy for Sustainable Development.

Outcome 4: Science Technology and Innovation for Achieving SDG 16.

Outcome 5: Strengthen partner alignment.

Special Projects: .Word Women’s Health and Development Institute, RASIT-EkoRE AGORA, Commission on Status of Women
and Girls in Science, and Global Fund for Women and Girls in Science.


Across the agreed outcomes and projects, the work plan is structured around delivering four priority areas of focus in 2016-2020,
including:
  • Science Policy Interface for achieving Parity in Science.
  • Highest possible political commitment to Renewable Energy.
  • Including Culture as the 4th pillar of sustainable development.
  • Considering the fundamental role media in achieving the SDGs
  • Strengthen Partner engagement and alignment nationally, regionally, globally.


The implementation of the Work plan will be coordinated and facilitated by Coordinators supported by the Executive Board. The
Coordinators are appointed based on criteria agreed by the Executive Board, such as technical expertise, strength of networks and
ability to dedicate time towards these tasks.
