OUR IMPACT .. in brief examples

BUILDING CAPACITY THROUGH RASIT'S SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME

RASIT’s Capacity building programs reveal its legacy and path to the future as well as demonstrated the mastery of providing the highest means of social development programs for the well-being of humanity.

Capacity building commonly refers to a process that supports only the initial stages of building or creating capacities and is based on an assumption that there are no existing capacities to start from.

Noteworthy, in the 1960s and early 1970s of the 20th century, most of the developing countries received their independence or were going through its process after decades of colonization. Supporting such countries to build their nations based on education, skills, and knowledge development was a priority for RASIT and its Founder President HRH Prince Mohammad bin King Faisal (I) of Iraq El-Hashemite.

Since 1968, RASIT has been building capacity through its scholarship scheme. Throughout the years, RASIT has provided thousands of scholarships and prepared youth to serve society as well as to face the challenges of the continuously changing and developing world.

OUR IMPACT

CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT THROUGH TRANSFER OF TECHNOLOGY SCHEME

Developing countries have expressed the need for support in accessing and deploying adaptation technologies, including as part of their process to formulate and implement development programs. Support needs range from the strengthening of institutions and human resources for technology research and development to capacity-building and the establishment of information and awareness-raising programs.

Capacity building and development in fields of science and technology remain challenging in many developing communities around the world, particularly in lower-income countries.

Our Impact

CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT IN ARAB STATES

HRH Prince Mohammad bin King Faisal (I) of Iraq El-Hashemite, RASIT’s Founder President, established the Capacity Development in Arab States Initiative, aiming to support governments in investing in their human resources. Some the examples are as follow.

Starting from Kuwait, RASIT’s Founder President established capacity development programs designed for university science and engineering as well as management, and economics students and graduates in Kuwait Oil Company, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Central Bank of Kuwait, and relevant ministries. The Programs were also available for youth from the Gulf States that gained their independence in the early 1970s. The Programs were then tailored for other Arab States and implemented.

Another capacity development program was designed for implementation at Kuwait University, where Prince Mohammad bin King Faisal (I) of Iraq is a co-founder. The Programs included 3–4 months of education and training for graduates and workers in public administrative management to gain knowledge and skills on, inter alia, Information and Communication Technology, Digitalization, and foreign languages, among others. The Programs were then tailored for other Arab Gulf States.

CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMS

It is quite well acknowledged the role HRH Prince Mohammad bin King Faisal (I) of Iraq El-Hashemite, RASIT’s Founder President, has played in establishing and developing Cultural Exchange Programs and Schemes worldwide.

The Cultural Exchange Program aims to develop the capacity of youth and the opportunity to experience different environments and cultures in another country. The experience, knowledge, and skills that are provided through the programs provide opportunities that may not be available in the participant's home country, which will enrich the participant’s personal development.

As a result of implementing the program by countries, RASIT’s Founder President, Prince Mohammad, presented a study to governments to establish a Cultural Counselor post in its diplomatic missions to oversee their Cultural Exchange Programs.

ONLINE WORKSHOP

Using the power of the internet and ICT, RASIT created in 2008 the first online workshop, at that time there was only Skype.

The initiative was introduced by RASIT’s Executive Director, HRH Princess Dr. Nisreen El-Hashemite, to help and support colleagues from developing and least developed countries to have similar opportunities in applied and social sciences knowledge and skills, and to create collaboration between professionals and institutions.

This initiative aims to build and develop the capacity of new graduates and professionals worldwide without leaving their home country or work. The online workshops are not intended to replace traditional in-person ones. Rather, it is a way to help women and men, especially those from developing or lower-income countries to gain skills and knowledge without any financial costs associated. These online workshops helped in the transfer of technology, and training of scientists on the latest methods used, and further helped professionals working in medical and diagnostic fields serve their patients through online consultations and training.

INVESTING IN HUMAN RESOURCES PROGRAMS
IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS

It is quite well acknowledged the role HRH Prince Mohammad bin King Faisal (I) of Iraq El-Hashemite, RASIT’s Founder President, played in establishing and developing scholarship systems and schemes worldwide.

As a natural extension of its services in socio-economic sustainable development, RASIT established a tailored designed Scholarship Scheme for the Public and Private sectors to implement, to give aspiring youth an invaluable opportunity at the very start of their careers.

The Scheme is based on offering students the opportunity to be a part of a program that offers them full scholarships in the fields relevant to their specialty to pursue their higher education and paid work experience opportunities. The work experience, which takes place within the corporate or institution's office, allows youth to gain practical experience.

The scheme particularly aims at providing youth with job opportunities and career development at the organization that supports them.

Ministries in 75 countries as well as 3877 companies worldwide have implemented RASIT's Program on Investing in Human Resources in the Public and Private Sectors.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS ON TELEVISION

As a form of developing students’ skills and knowledge, RASIT’s Founder President, HRH Prince Mohammad bin King Faisal (I) of Iraq, established educational television or learning television programs in the Arab States.

The learning television programs were not set up to replace attending schools or universities but rather to strengthen students’ understanding of curriculum subjects. The Learning Television Initiative started in Egypt with certain hours of TV programs.

In the early 1970s, the Ministries of Education endorsed the initiative and established dedicated specialty channels.

Also, in the 1970s, RASIT developed the concept of Learning Television in Arab States and other developing countries to serve university students’ distance learning programs.
