DEEPER UNDERSTANDING.. BETTER SOLUTIONS.

RASIT is uniquely equipped to speed progress to sustainable social and economic development goals that bring everyone forward.

Our mission since 1968 has been to shape international cooperation by building bridges between nations in social and economic development programs through education, science, culture, and capacity building.

RASIT, as a convenor, offers a broad range of expertise in various fields. We translate the ambitions of the Sustainable Development programs into advice, action and implementation that yield concrete results.

We do this by working on:

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The Sustainable Development Center was founded in 1982 to facilitate and generate work on equitable, inclusive socio-economic sustainable development. It espouses an interdisciplinary, multi-sectoral approach and recognizes that future long-term research must be coordinated across all areas of sustainable development to maximize its impact on the world's peace and prosperity.

EDUCATION

In 1968, the late HRH Prince Mohammed bin King Faisal (I) of Iraq El-Hashemite founded RASIT with a mission to provide education to whomever is in need.

Education transforms lives and is at the heart of RASIT's mission to build peace, eradicate poverty, and drive socio-economic sustainable development. All through times of change, RASIT’s mission has remained steadfast: to recuperate, enrich, and advance education, and make it accessible to everyone everywhere.

RASIT provides international leadership in education, strengthens education systems worldwide, and responds to contemporary global challenges through education with equality, accessibility, and inclusion as underlying principles. Its work encompasses educational development from preschool through higher education and beyond.

EQUALITY IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Since 1968, RASIT has been promoting gender equality and equity mainstreaming as a key element to achieving inclusive and sustainable development.

Our key messages:

  • equal opportunities, choices, capabilities, power and knowledge as equal citizens.
  • Equipping girls and, women equally with boys and men with the knowledge, values, attitudes and skills to tackle gender disparities is a need and a necessity to building a sustainable future for all.

ARTS AND CULTURE

With the rapid changes in the rhythm of life, RASIT’s Founder - the late HRH Prince Mohammad bin King Faisal (I) of Iraq El-Hashemite, recognized a need for strategies and interventions to address “the whole person”, through a more integrated approach to policy development—one that can reach every person at various stages of life, across generations, and in multiple learning contexts. Prince Mohammad’s study confirmed that the arts and culture are ideally suited to promote this integrated approach.

RASIT's Arts and Culture Council promotes arts education and arts participation as one of the main pillars of achieving socio-economic sustainable development.

DISCOVER

SCIENCE AND SOCIETY

From global warming to gene technologies, from cyber-relationships, to politics, science and technology intermediate change and help us understand the world and our place in it. While most of us are not professionally trained to manipulate scientific knowledge independently, we can acquire a form of scientific and technological literacy that enables us to understand 'where the science is coming from' and what it means for us and our needs.

Science and Society for Sustainable Development seeks to bridge the two cultures of the sciences and the humanities. And with science and technology's central place in modern life, we need to think about scientific knowledge and its applications in a systematic, critical way, whether it is a discussion about data protection or artificial intelligence, scientifically sound arguments can support societal discourse as well as political and entrepreneurial decisions.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

The Potential of Youth as partners for development has been the main objective of RASIT’s work for more than 55 years. Since 1968, RASIT has been committed to empowering Youth and ensuring their participation actively in shaping the societies in which they live through education, building and developing capacity, networking, recognition, and to ensure their participation in decision making.

The World Youth League is the first Department established in RASIT in 1969, and the heme remains “Investing in Future Leaders”. Through its programs and activities, Youth have proved that they are Leaders of Today and ready to develop a sustainable world.

EXPLORE

INCLUSION: BRINGING EVERYONE FORWARD

One billion people, or 15% of the world’s population, experience some form of disability, and disability prevalence is higher for developing countries. Persons with disabilities are more likely to experience adverse socioeconomic outcomes such as less education, poorer health outcomes, lower levels of employment, and higher poverty rates.

Although we support disabled people through our humanitarian work, RASIT is focusing on Deaf and Blind Empowerment through its Mute International and Science in Braille programs, respectively.
