Sports, whether team-based or individual, have lots of positive impacts on children. Children's participation in sports aids physical and social development, contribute to academic success, and help nurture a child’s self-esteem.
Due to the massive invasion of the cyberworld, Families have fallen apart, parents have lost their roles, and children have grown. rogue and lost their sense of reality.
At The Fund, wellness and living healthy are about the spirit, mind, and body at all levels of life. It's about feeling complete. It's about longing for self-improvement and helping others. It's about leading the life we have. To accomplish such a goal, we saw the need to reconnect children and their families by engaging them in interactive fun programs, out of the house and away from the cyber world.
El-Sharifa Fatima Fund organizes, or co-sponsors Sports Day and various programs related to the healthy living of children and rebuilding and strengthening family ties. After all, healthy body is healthy mind.
The games played at sports day can go beyond traditional events such as running, football, and basketball, and include entertaining games such as the egg and spoon race and sack race – there is something for everyone!
The Sports Day initiative has many benefits for children. In addition to the physical benefits, playing sports can help children develop their social skills and set them up for positive relationship building for life. Through sports day, children get the chance to show leadership, teamwork, and communication skills as they interact with new people and face new challenges. Furthermore, the encouragement received during the Sports Day from coaches, classmates, teachers, and parents has a positive impact on a child’s self-esteem and overall confidence levels.
In USA for example, The Fund co-sponsors Youth Athletic Leagues, where teams of young athletes as young as 5 years old are encouraged to join teams of their favorite sports, receive a weekly organized training, and compete on a national level. In other countries – mainly in developing and underdeveloped countries, The Fund also co-sponsors School Sports Day.
The Fund has supported 307 Sports Days in total, 92 events were especially designed for children with disabilities.
