YOUTH SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT CENTER

Gathering and communicating ideas and knowledge continues to be a primary pursuit of today’s RASIT. The tremendous expansion of research and information in the sciences and art in recent times makes such a pursuit even more crucial if real progress is to result.

Since the year 1968, RASIT made further strides towards helping to spread the word of dialogue and understanding about the significant issues concerning Youth education, employment, responsibilities, and most importantly, their vision in social and economic sustainable development programs worldwide.

The Youth Sustainable Development Studies Center, founded by HRH Prince Professor Adel EL-Hashemite in 1986, strives to empower Youth and enhance their participation in the scholarly exchange of knowledge on sustainable development and promotes joint research across sciences on sustainable development issues.

The Center, comprised of an inter disciplinary group of youth and junior professionals, work focuses on contemporary issues and challenges, inter alia, education, health, food and agriculture, energy, environment, multilateralism, and beyond.

GENERATIONS DIALOGUE

As mandated in its constitution of 1968, the Intergenerational Dialogues program was launched by the late HRH Prince Mohammad bin King Faisal (I) of Iraq El-Hashemite in 1978 to bridge different generations and share their views and experiences.

The program “Generations Dialogue” aims to improve the understanding of young people’s sense of what the future holds for them. An innovative approach is designed specifically to open dialogue across traditional disciplines and age boundaries and to bridge the agendas and preoccupations of academics, senior professionals, private sectors, policymakers, and of young people.

The Generations Dialogue inevitably triggers a broader concept of capacity development. It allows Youth to learn from the experience of older people, while the older generations can profit from the Youth’s knowledge and skills, as well as from their energy and dynamic force.

Generations Dialogues identify and define new approaches to bridging the gap between generations in the virtual and the real world. It contributes to a mutual recognition of basic rules of intergenerational dialogue based on understanding and respect.

Whether it is about management, economics, health, democracy, entrepreneurship, education and employment, or environmental challenges such as water, climate change, or biodiversity, every event of the Generations Dialogue has a theme based on the priorities of national, regional, and international priorities.

S.P.E.A.K PODCAST

The SPEAK Podcast was started as a weekly radio program aired live every Monday on Lebanon Radio Station (the Republic of Lebanon's Official Radio Station) from Beirut. This unique Radio Program, known as “ENWAN”, has provided a platform for Arab youth and foreign university students in the MENA Region to have the opportunity to debate with guests from different backgrounds. The Guests’ backgrounds ranged from Ministers, parliamentarians, CEOs of the Private Sector, Foreign Ambassadors, and Representatives of the International Community. The Hosts of the ENWAN Radio Program were young women and men who devote part of their time to getting trained by RASIT to be prepared for interviewing thy guest.

With RASIT’s continuous efforts, the youth, whether hosts or the audience of the ENWAN Radio Program gained skills and knowledge, confidence, self-esteem, and more importantly, the encouragement to debate challenges and present their views on possible solutions.

Per the successful impact of the ENWAN Radio Program, RASIT has initiated “S.P.E.A.K” Podcast by youth for youth. This exciting new podcast bridges the gap between the youth of different backgrounds, as well as between youth and the people of the world. Youth host to talk science, culture, arts, sustainable development issues concerning society, and beyond.

Conclusions of “The I.D.E.A.S.” discussions and events are shared with policymakers in the form of reports.

ACTION HUB

Per the recommendations of the First Youth World Congress organized by RASIT and UNESCO in 1998, The Youth Action Hubs initiative was created by The World Youth League with the principle “By Youth, for Social-Economic Development.”.

The Action Hub aims to empower youth to think globally and express views on Socio-Economic Sustainable Development and enables RASIT to act locally as game changers in our communities by setting up SDG-related projects.

Recognizing their potential, RASIT has created a space for its fellow members to engage with other youth from around the world to discuss challenges, provide solutions, and take action to implement development programs in their communities. The Action Hub meetings are held twice a year, in virtual and hybrid formats.

RASIT World Youth League manages the Hub and coordinates with its members the discussion topics of the meetings. Youth participants generate an executive summary and outcome recommendations of their meetings and submit them to the RASIT Executive Board for further processing.

Since it was launched in September 1998, the Action Hub has conducted more than 48 meetings, created 18 local sustainable projects, submitted 21 studies for local government, and presented its work at 13 International Conferences.
